Mr. Kip Tyner is a native of Tuscaloosa. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and later received a BA in Journalism from the University of Alabama. He is the owner of Kip Tyner Productions and served as the Assistant Press Secretary for U.S. Senator John Sparkman. Mr. Tyner is also the host of the local television program, “Great Day Tuscaloosa” produced daily and aired on Channel 21. In 1986, he was honored at the Governor’s Mansion in Montgomery as Alabama’s Outstanding Young Man. First elected in 1997, this will be his seventh term. Mr. Tyner has served as chairperson of Projects Committee for the past 8 years, and for 16 years he was chairperson of the Public Safety Committee. He has also served as Vice Chairperson of the Finance Committee in the past. Mr. Tyner spends his spare time involved in animal rescue.
